Celebrity MasterChef 2018: Who is John Partridge?
John Partridge is an actor and West End star best known for his role in EastEnders as Christian Clarke.
He was part of the soap from 2008 to 2016 and featured in a high profile gay storyline.
Speaking about starring in the BBC soap, Partridge told The Stage: “I’m proud of having done EastEnders. I know it gets knocked, but it’s difficult to tell a gay story at 7.30pm.
“Some of the greatest actors on British television are on that show. It is not for the faint-hearted, and I owe a lot to Christian.”
After leaving EastEnders, Partridge has worked in musical theatre with roles in Cats, Chicago and Starlight Express.
Partridge has been on a number of reality shows including Strictly Come Dancing, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Tumble.
He also served as a judge on BBC talent show Over the Rainbow.
In 2016 Partridge took part in Celebrity Big Brother and came in sixth place in the series which was won by Scotty T from Geordie Shore.
He revealed that he took part on the Channel 5 reality series to pay for care for his mother, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.
Partridge said that his mother had sadly passed away in 2017 after suffering from the condition for seven years.
The actor has also spoken about his own health issues and admitted that he’d had testicular cancer in 2004.
Partridge is in civil partnership with Jon Tsouras after pair tied the knot in 2011.
Most recently, Partridge performed his one-man show Stripped at the Edinburgh Festival.
A BBC synopsis for tonight’s episode of Celebrity MasterChef reads: “The first challenge for the five hopefuls is the Mystery Box - the infamous test of imagination and creativity.
“The contestants must use the ingredients in the box, which include lamb rump, whole mackerel, mozzarella, aubergine, apricots and filo pastry, to create just one dish in 50 minutes.
The celebrities are then split into two groups to take on the challenge of cooking in a restaurant kitchen for the first time, preparing dishes for paying customers.
“Anita, John and Jean head to Novikov, an authentic Italian restaurant in London's Mayfair, while Spencer and Frankie are sent to Baluchi, a pan-Indian restaurant that showcases modern dishes with authentic Indian flavours.
“For the final test of culinary creativity it's back to the MasterChef kitchen, as the contestants are asked to prepare a two-course menu of their own design in just one hour.
“The celebrities work furiously in a last attempt to prove themselves to the judges, because at the end of this test one of them is sent home.”
Celebrity MasterChef airs on BBC One.
