Aligning with our raison d'être here at Gay Dining, which is that "food brings people together", Cohen Media Group is releasing Breaking Bread on February 4th. The 1 hour and 25 minute documentary shines a light on the A-Sham Festival, where Arab and Jewish chefs attempt social change through cooking and food.
Los Angeles based director Beth Elise Hawk says the film's story and message applies not only to Arab and Jewish cultures, but across all political and religious dynamics that are at odds in their belief structures. Basically, that all humans have similarities.
Already the doc has received awards including the Napa Valley Film Festival Audience Award for "Favorite Culinary Cinima Film" and the JIFF Australia "Top Documentary" Audience Award.
Breaking Bread will be released across 60 cities. You buy tickets and learn more on the doc's website.
