Liberation Coffee House is NOW OPEN in Los Angeles. It is located on the Anita May Rosenstein Campus of the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
They serve coffee and pastries sourced from California. Coffee is supplied by Verve Coffee and pastries are provisioned from Bakers Kneaded. Rishi Tea from Milwaukee is also served.
We're looking forward to try the Turmeric Ginger Latte and Savory Chorizo Hand Pie.
There is 1,600 square feet and the hours are Monday through Friday from 730am until 230pm daily.
The space and design is inspired by Keith Haring and his energetic use of simple lines. The goal was to make Liberation Coffee House a welcoming space and for sure it looks like they succeeded.
The architect was ORA.
Beyond the inspirational interior, good coffee and great eats, the Coffee House is staffed by graduates of the Los Angeles LGBT Center Culinary Arts Program. This program is three months long, educates 100 students per year and is intergenerational, made up of youth and seniors.
The Culinary Arts Program also consists of a 300 hour curriculum, offers on-the-job training and job placement. It offers students mentoring. In addition, the program focuses on food waste reduction and uses donated food to create meals for food insecure citizens.
And beyond regular business hours, the Coffee House space will be available for meetings, lectures, gallery openings and more.
