The United States Supreme Court ruled this month that LGBT workers are covered under protections offered by the 1964 Civil Rights Act. This means that employers are forbidden from discriminating against employees on the basis of sex as well as gender (which includes LGBT workers), race, color, national origin and religion. “The eradication of discrimination on the basis of sex, gender identity or sexual orientation is a righteous and attainable goal for today’s leaders,” Korsmo said in a statement.
The United States is the largest wine consuming nation in the world and this is a promising show of support by a key industry leader.
